Purpose: This study evaluates the contribution of mining establishments to community development through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, with a focus on education, healthcare, tree plantation, and water conservation in Rajsamand district, Rajasthan. Rationale: Following the establishment of the Rajsamand District Mineral Foundation Trust (RDMFT) in 2016 under the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957, mining companies are required to contribute 30% or 10% of royalty to the District Mineral Foundation (DMF). Major mining companies, including R.K. Marble Pvt. Ltd. and Vedanta Hindustan Zinc Limited, Dariba Complex, have played a significant role in supporting local development. Methodology: The study is based on both primary and secondary data. Primary data were collected through field visits, stakeholder interactions, and personal interviews, while secondary data were obtained from company websites, annual reports, and published documents. The research assesses CSR initiatives implemented by mining establishments in the study area. Results: The findings reveal that mining establishments have made substantial contributions to community welfare, particularly in education, healthcare, afforestation, and water conservation. These initiatives have positively influenced the socio-economic and environmental conditions of local communities, demonstrating the significant role of the mining industry in promoting sustainable regional development.
